Following years of detailed and extensive study and research, White Moss have invested heavily in green waste recycling. The facilities which have been developed at the Simonswood Moss site have produced an industry blueprint.
The composting site comprises a 20,000 m2 concrete pad, purpose built for the creation of consistent quality growing media substrates. The specialist processing plant includes a shredder, windrow turner and screen. These are a prerequisite to ensure quality growing media substrate production. Process controls include feedstock inspection, temperature and maturity monitoring. Products are only released to market when stringent quality parameters are achieved.
The production of high quality green compost, which is all produced to PAS 100 standard is only the beginning of the recycling story. To close the loop and be truly engaged in recycling the product must be turned into a finished item which can be used in a variety of growing media, as well as landscape and amenity products.
To achieve this, the mixing & blending plant has been designed to ensure that all substrates and additives, which create the growing media, are combined in the exact proportions as demanded by our customers.
This computer controlled facility allows full recording and monitoring of the whole process guaranteeing full traceability. Products are sold in bulk loads or in a range of packaging, including top fill sacks, bulk bags or form fill and seal bags. The capacity and flexibility of this facility allows us to service large and smaller scale contracts.
